Started by a Chinese immigrant, this place is going strong after 80 years. His family still serves up his popular dishes, including New York strip steak smothered in sauteed onions, and oyster sauce, honey-walnut prawns and (not-so-Chinese) banana cream pie, in the same swanky location since 1939. In 2013, Frank Fat’s was awarded the James Beard Foundation America’s Classics Award. In 2019, the restaurant snagged a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that recognizes restaurants offering “exceptionally good food at moderate prices.”
