Originally opened in 1922 on the ground floor of the Milias Hotel, the restaurant became the hub of South County. It’s location on the main thoroughfare between San Francisco and Monterey led to regular visits by celebrities that included actors Bing Crosby and Clark Gable and humorist Will Rogers. Original elements like the horseshoe-shaped bar, hand-cut marble floors and even a freestanding urinal – rumored to have been used by John Wayne – remain.
